Rockingham Western Australia – Nature’s Paradise

Home for us is Rockingham in Western Australia is situated 60 kms south of Perth. It is one of those areas underrated by many but locals appreciate the beauty it has to offer, once you have visited you will understand.

Rockingham can be reached easily from Perth, either by the freeway or a 45 minute train journey and taking to connecting 500 bus to the foreshore area.

Rockingham Beach

The foreshore is a stretch of shaded parklands that run parallel to the child friendly beach, here you will find a stunning vista of blue coastlines, picnic areas with free BBQ grills, safe beaches and playgrounds for children to enjoy. There are also many coffee shops and restaurants where you can enjoy a meal and take in the stunning sunsets.

Along the two bays are a walking track that stretched for 16 kms, you can walk along the whole coastline stretching from Kwinana to Port Kennedy. Along the way you can enjoy watching the Pengquin Island Fairy Penguinslocal dolphins who are often seen around the coast sometimes they even swim with you while you are in the water. Also along the coast are areas where you can learn to kitesurf, take a boat trip to Penguin Island to see the Fairy Penguins who live there (although this can be a day trip in itself) and boat trips around the Shoalwater Islands where you can see seals and dolphins.

Rockingham Western Australia truly has a lot to offer visitors and locals alike especially when it is summer.

Fairy penguins?!?! What??!! I didn’t know about this species and they’re adorable. I assume that since it’s part of a preserve, the practices for tourists to visit are safe/sustainable. I really want to add this to our trip down under!
